Fairy Tale In New York by Nicky Wells
Release Date: 10th November 2014
Genres: Contemporary Romance

Book Blurb

New York. A restaurant near Park Avenue. It’s early evening, and dusk is falling. So is the snow. Jude and Carrie are merely killing time while they wait for their return flight to London. They don’t know yet that their life will never be the same.

When rock star Jude gets stranded in New York with his family on Christmas Eve, he has no idea that he is setting in motion a chain of events that will turn their Christmas into the most magical one yet…

No good deed goes unpunished, or so it seems to Jude and Carrie on the morning of the twenty-fourth of December. The previous day, they gave up their London-bound flights to someone in crisis. And now, a spectacular whiteout is grounding all planes, and Jude, Carrie, and baby Maya are stuck far from home.

Tired, hungry, and just a little panicked, Jude loads his family into a cab and returns to their hotel. But there’s no room at the inn, and not even a platinum credit card will make a difference. Snow is falling heavily, and the family is facing a very bleak night indeed.

How do you celebrate Christmas with no place to stay, no food, and no presents? Join Jude, Carrie, Maya and a cast of colourful characters in this fairy tale story of Yuletide in New York.

When I was a kid I used to love watching old Christmas movies. They got me in the mood for Christmas and made me feel all warm inside. Well, it’s not very often a book does this but Fairy Tale in New York is that surprise in your Christmas stocking. It’s the icing on the Christmas cake! It’s the fairy on top of the tree! It’s so good it should be made into a Christmas movie! It was great to meet the characters from Nicky's previous Christmas Novella 'Spirits of Christmas', although this book can be read as a stand-alone novella.

After an act of kindness leaves Rock and Roll star Jude and girlfriend Carrie, along with their baby daughter, stranded in New York over Christmas, it seems like it may be the worst Christmas ever! Desperate to get home and with nowhere to go as New York turns white under a blanket of snow, it appears that nothing can save Christmas for them. However, hidden amongst the pages of this book is a little bit of Christmas magic where miracles do happen and the kindness of strangers gives new meaning to the spirit of Christmas. Jude, our gorgeous rock star hero is also every inch the rocker with a big heart throughout this story and I’d have been happy to find him in my Christmas stocking this year!

I read this novella in one sitting and could not put it down. It made me smile. It made me cry with happiness and most of all, it made me want to go haul my Christmas tree out of the garage and dust off the Christmas baubles! It’s so lovely to read a story with a real feel good factor. Highly recommended to brighten your spirits and fall head first into a modern fairy tale sprinkled with rock star romance!
