As if Shannon and her sexy characters wasn’t enough, Shannon’s Law now comes with a FREE companion cookery book - Cop's Kitchen - Read the book, feel the passion and TASTE the love! What they say: Wild child inner city cop Shannon Aguerri walks a dangerous line between her methods and justice. When the bosses lose their nerve, after yet another maverick mission, she is transferred to green pastures to play out the role of a routine village cop. Here she encounters signs of people and drug trafficking and homes in on serious millionaire criminals. As a loner she has attracted men but nothing has stuck. When she meets Spencer, the hunky and widowed Earl of Bloxington, there is an immediate rapport between them. Their social differences mean nothing to their passion and need. Already in the mix is an upper class female rival – who has long plotted her way into the Earl's bed. The jealousy is an evil shade of green and the anger is a violent scarlet. Often inhibited by a sense of duty and honour, Spencer is slow to reveal his feelings. When Shannon confronts him with the need to choose between her word and that of her rival, he does not immediately support her. All the same, when they are forced together to carry out a desperate rescue mission, their love is stronger than everything ranged against them.

Historical Inspiration for a Modern-Day Romance Novel
Guest Post by Emma Calin
Joséphine – Empress of France, wife and lover of Napoléon
Love needs ideals and icons. When you don't have love, all those famous couples can seem both to mock and to encourage. Finally they can comfort your loneliness with the knowledge that generally everything ends up as an emotional bonfire. Maybe another evening with the cat and a romance novel is a better bet in the end? But who would not want to be Cleopatra, Juliet, Dido or indeed Joséphine, Empress of France? Big love is big risk. Joséphine was a woman of appetite and generosity. She was older than Napoléon and already had two children when he fell for her. And how hard he fell! This ruthless soldier abandoned his heart to her at first sight. On a personal level, her affair with Napoléon echoes a small slice of my own life. The second time I met my poet mate, Oscar Sparrow, he presented with me with a copy of a book in French - “The Letters Of Napoléon To Joséphine”. He had bought it for me in Paris shortly after we met, from one of those old bookseller stalls by the Seine. When I had unwrapped it he asked me if I liked to read in bed and I replied that I preferred to be read to....
My very own precious copy – his letters chart the ups and downs of their relationship - in French of course
The old boy is still here and can still read without glasses. I must be getting something right. So, it was it was inevitable that I would want to weave Joséphine’s story into one of my romance novels - Shannon's Law. For sure she was something of a handful even for an emperor. My impression is that she was the boss in their relationship. In my story Shannon certainly sets the tone and her earl is happy to follow. Items of furniture at “Bloxington Manor” (the fictitious home of Spencer the modern-day, Earl of Bloxington) were once owned by her and feature in the story. A sumptuous exotic four poster bed takes centre stage at one point, as well as a rather special piece of jewellery that came up for sale in 2013 (you’ll have to read the book to find out more!). The story behind the furniture was not entirely made up, as the real-life house that I based my novel on, Avington Park, in Hampshire UK, also features these same items. Joséphine it seems, was an extremely generous person and seemed to enjoy giving pieces to her favourite servants – you find them all over Europe, handed down from generation to generation. As a well-known spendthrift, I think she did it to make way for some latest must-have fashionable item that she had seen in someone else’s palace or royal apartment.
A piece of Joséphine’s furniture at Bloxington Manor (Avington Park, Hampshire UK)
Yet, beyond the hardware, her life of passion, spilled blood, loss, gain and ambition flavour the narrative mix of the story. Their relationship knew many ups and downs. When he died in exile in 1821, the last word on the lips of Napoléon was “Joséphine”. I think that as facts go, it is one of the most beautiful I know. Can the love affair between Shannon and Spencer run the course of time? You’ll have to read it to find out!

Shannon Aguerri is a tough inner city copy who has been transferred to a local village and is now the village bobby. Shannon is unlike anything the villagers have ever seen and unsure of what to think of her at first, she soon becomes a part of village life. Yes, some of her methods are unconventional and she might be a bit gobby, but Shannon soon falls into her role...............and into the arms of an Earl! A very sexy Earl! And she falls hard. Throw into the mix a dead girl, drugs and possibly human trafficking AND a rival for the Earl's affections, and Shannon soon begins to wonder if she is out of her depth.
Shannon's law is fast paced from start to finish. Shannon is a strong willed female character and takes no nonsense from anyone. She is tough but fair and I liked that side of her. We get to see her vulnerable side where the Earl is concerned and she is unsure of her place in his world. At the heart of the book is a love story between two very different people who society would not expect to be together. There are some very very racy sex scenes in the book which are quite explicit and had me heading for a cold shower! An enjoyable read.
